Atma Bernardi is an artist working and residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He received his BFA from the University of New Mexico in 2024.
Born in Vittorio Veneto, Italy, he grew up surrounded by centuries of art, never really paying much attention to it. Atma moved to the United States in 2013, to work in the organic food industry, and only after his retirement in 2018 he developed a keen interest in art making.
Atma loves nature and being outside, and often takes quick sketches of the surrounding Area, sometime writing down few rhymes to encapsulate the moment.
He uses his sketches, memory, and imagination to create large abstract works in the studio, never working from photographs.
Whether at the easel or sitting in the garden with a cup of tea, he constantly strives to be a better observer, opening himself at the richness and complexity of nature and deepening his understanding of the world around and within him.
